HAMMOND—The Walker Lady Wildcats got a pair of 12-point efforts from Brooke Bortnick and Mina
Rominto in route to handing the Doyle Lady Tigers a 61-24 setback, while tournament host St. Thomas
scored a 51-36 win over Albany in day two action Thursday night.
Walker 61, Doyle 24
The Walker Lady Wildcats held the Doyle Lady Tigers to single digit
scoring for the first periods and coasted to
a 61-24 win. The Lady Wildcat
led by as much as 40 points at the 7:33 mark of the final period when Megan
Abbott hit a jumper to put the Walker lead at 53-13.
Brooke Bortnick and Mina Rominto each had 12 points for Walker
while Amber Abott added another eight points for the winners. For Doyle,
BriAnna Randall had eight points

St. Thomas 51, Albany 36
Christy Shelby scored eight of her total 12 points in the opening
six minutes to pace a 21-7 first period run by the Lady Falcons over Albany. The Lady
Hornets rallied in the second period to tie the score at 21 on a jumper by Camille
Mocsary at the 3:35 mark. However, St. Thomas answered outscoring Albany 13-2 in
the final minutes of the period to take a 34-24 advantage at the half. The Lady
Falcons built on their advantage in the second half leading by as much as 14
at 50-36 on a lay-up by Rebekah Greer with 4:22 left in the fourth.
Casey Buie led all scorers with 14 points followed by Shelby with
12 and Greer with 11. For Albany, Chelsea Rogers ahd 13 and Taylor Bankston added 10.
