HAMMOND—The Walker Lady Cats outlasted St. Thomas 39-35 to win the Lady Falcons Invitational Tournament in finals action Saturday. The Lady Cats cashed in 7-of-9 free throws in the final five minutes to overtake the Lady Falcons in a defensive battle that featured four lead changes, four ties, and one fan tossed for bad behavior. Albany took advantage of a Loranger team missing two starters to win the consolation game 43-37.

Albany 43 , Loranger 37
The Albany Lady Hornets took advantage 33 tries from the charity strip scoring 25 points to secure a 43-37 win over Loranger in the Consolation game. The Lady Wolves were limited with the absence of two senior starters and Albany took advantage jumping out to a 21-12 lead after two periods.     Chelsea Rogers and Taylor Bankston paced Albany with 12 and 10 points respectively. Whitney Anthony was tops for Loranger with 12.

Walker 39, St. Thomas 35
In a contest dominated by stellar defensive play by both squads, free throws proved to be the difference as the Lady Cats of Walker made good on 7-of-9 charity shots down the stretch to claim top tournament honors over St. Thomas 39-35.
The Lady Falcons opened up an early 7-4 lead at the 4:33 mark of the first period, but Walker rallied scoring eight unanswered points to gain the advantage. Hannah Fohne paced the Lady Cat rally scoring six of her game high 16 points.
Shelby DiMiceli nailed a three-pointer with 6:46 showing to open the final period to put the Lady Falcons up 28-25, and after a Walker free throw, Casey Buie hit a short jumper to extend the St. Thomas lead to four at 30-26. Walker got a lay-up by Fohne and a pair of free throws by Morgan Melancon to tie the score at 30. The Lady Falcons answered with a three-pointer by DiMiceli, but it would their final lead of the game as Walker outscored St. Thomas 9-2 the rest of the way.
