HAMMOND—The Northshore Lady Panthers executed a near perfect ambush against host St. Thomas in the
SHARPSHOOTER—Northshore’s Tiffany Aidoo hit three, three-point shots in the first half of the Lady Panthers 63-33 win over St. Thomas.
opening period of the championship game as the Lady Panthers hit seven of their first nine shots in route to outscoring the Lady Falcons 31-9. The Lady Falcons held Northshore to just seven points in the second period while scoring six, but another shooting spree in the third period netted 23 more for the Lady Panthers who coasted to the 2006 Ladies Veritas Challenge Championship by a final of 63-33.
    Seniors Karissa Claybrook and Tiffant Aidoo led the first period shooting spree and finished the first half with 17 and 11 points respectively including a total of seven three-pointers.
    Northshore called off the shooters in the final period as the Lady Panthers scored only two points while St. Thomas managed 13. Aidoo was out of bullets in the second half and ended her night with 11 points, while Claybrook added another eight to lead all scorers with 25. For St. Thomas Megan Kinchen and Shelby DiMiceli each had 11.
    In the battle for third place, the St. Joseph Redstickers

outscored the Amite Lady Warriors 20-12 in the third period to build on a one-point halftime lead (25-24) and go on to defeat Amite 60-51. Three Redstickers finished in double-figures with Kelsey Schexnayder tossing in 15 points and Meagan Duncan and Morgan Briggs each adding 11 more. St. Joseph’s shot 8-of-14 from the line. For Amite, Gabrielle James was tops with 18 points and Tiffany Foster had 15 more.
    The Loranger Lady Wolves beat up on the Ascension Catholic Lady Bulldogs 65-34 in the first of two consolation games. Destrehan bested Covington in the second consolation match-up 52-43.
    Dana Bruno led the Loranger effort with 16 points and teammate Joycelyn Willie added 13. Destrehan was paced by Tawanna Lee who racked up 21 points going 4-of-5 from the free throw stripe.
